A Recent Favorite Thing

Being the maximalist that we are, between the two of us we have lots of favorite things. Once one of us declares a new Favorite thing it is not too long before it makes it on the list of the other sister. I declared a love for wearing high quality wool socks, she shortly thereafter is seen purchasing only wool socks. I bought a fanny pack to tote my kindle while running, she buys a fanny  pack too. Then she buys a fanny that has the additional benefit of holding two water bottles, I can't let her enjoy it alone and also purchase one. (disregarding the fact I own 3 different versions of a camelback.) But which Favorite thing I wish to discuss today is: books on tape. Or the more recent version: The glory that is audible.com.  I was resistant to sign up with her at first but she used her dogged determination to convince me. At first we only got one book a month, meaning you had to wait your turn that only came around every two months.  The book that sucked me in to this deal with a kind hearted devil was:

A very long, very good sweeping epic., covering the early part of the 20th cent with lots on information on WWI.
Soon we quickly realized that waiting two months before you could make another selection was almost unbearable. Especially since as we were just getting one book a month it needed to last all month. There just weren't that many books with about 50 hours listening that we were interested in. So we did some research and have now upped the ante to two books a month.  Which is much better as we are now into two different series. In addition to the Ken Follett books, we are also listening to Brian Sanderson's Mistborn series.
You might be thinking that two books would be enough per month. Well they had a sale on the first books in a series, a deal where you could buy one get one, a chance to get three more credits, all of which we participated in. We went from a book a month to getting 13 different titles in February. Much more of our enthusiastic style. Can you be a hoarder of digital content? Want to join in the fun of listening to a good whilst cleaning, running, crafting or just lying on the couch? Check out Audible !

  1. Erik and Kristin have enjoyed Audible for several years and let me share their library. I love it and feel so lucky to be able to have a wonderful selection to choose from.
