2014 April LDS General Conference

I have learned over the years of being a mom that if I want to get anything out of General Conference I need to have things to involve my kids in Conference.  We have tried several things over the years but the two that seem to work the best for us at this time is Conference Squares (Bingo) and Conference Trains. The bingo is a topic one like family prayer, faith, mother, priesthood and so on. If the kids get bingo they wait till after the speaker is finished to declare it and we check their bingo and then they can pick a candy from several candy jars. They can get multiple bingos so that keeps them interested.

Conference Train has a train car for every speaker with a space to take notes or color a picture and there is also a blank tie to color like the tie the speaker is wearing. A small picture of the general authority is also on the train car. We all took turns working on our trains.

McCoy colors  Gary E. Stevenson (presiding bishop) train car.

Eddy colors a train car

Zany helps color Elder Bednar's train car.

Our finished train cars the engine would say the session--saturday morning etc.

A closer look at the trains.

Second half of the trains.

McCoy decided to save up his bingos and go for blackout and thereby getting eight candies. It took a session and a half to do it.

We had a good conference it went by really fast. I am looking forward to reading the talks because with all seven of us in a room despite our best efforts you miss bits and pieces. Besides watching Conference I also matched  a ton of socks so two good things were accomplished.

  1. Loved the trains pictures. Great idea. Pres. Uchtdorf's talk was meant for me.
