Hard to believe McCoy is eight and he is pretty excited about it. He may be more excited by the fact that his birthday this year is a school holiday known as fair day and so he didn't have to go to school. We sang Happy Birthday to him in the morning and he opened some birthday presents. Archy was very eager to help him open his presents.
Fist bump you awesome eight year old
Wow a board game!
Just what I always wanted a Nerf Football
Since we got a Denny's in town, our birthday tradition is Dad and the birthday child go on an early morning breakfast date to Denny's. Usually they go really early before school starts but this year it was a bit later and I got to go too. Archy was terribly upset that he couldn't go and it is such a long wait until Archer's birthday comes back around (July). McCoy enjoyed his free grand slam, Eddy got a turkey dipper sandwich (you dip it in gravy) and I got a Cobb Salad. McCoy also ordered a Shirley Temple soda for the first time. He even got to try to win a plush toy from one of those grabber machines-no luck.
Birthday Breakfast at Denny's
Rare treat trying to win a toy,
total waste of money who even wants those junky toys but
I guess the thrill is in the winning

At the end of the meal I noticed McCoy was happily eating something with a spoon--jam. McCoy loves jam! Those little plastic squares of jam are a tasty treat to a boy who isn't allowed to just eat spoonfuls of jam at home. He was working on his third package before I even noticed he was eating them. I guess I know next year what to get him for his birthday.
Yummy little jam squares
Let them eat unlimited jam (on their birthday that is)!
Looks like fun. Someone needs update the cast of characters...
ReplyDeleteSince this move, I have totally neglected the birthdays from August on. Tsk, tsk. Nevertheless, a very happy special birthday (8) to a very special young man. Grandma loves you very much.
