Our church time is right at midday which is a terrible time to take pictures as the sun is right in your eyes as you can see from all the squinting. They all matched Zany's dress today, which was navy and green. We had to do a little speech for the primary as a family about following the prophet. When I asked Quinton in front of the primary what he liked about conference he answered, "Eating." He must be a teenage boy.
Zany actually wore earrings, necklace and carried a purse until about halfway through sacrament meeting when she divested herself from all of it. Taking off her earrings in protest of something and throwing them.

On the way to the car after church on the temple grounds, I saw what I thought was one of those big black bees but turned out it was the tiniest hummingbird. If you put two quarters next to each other that is how big he was. After much looking I am going to identify this hummingbird as a Black-chinned Hummingbird. Interesting fact about this type of hummingbird is due to their use of spider and insect silk thier nest can expand as needed for the babies as they get bigger. Wouldn't that be nice to have your house expand as needed, says the gal with only one bathroom and seven bathroom users!

On the same tree was this little red breasted House Finch. This bird has a long twittering song that is quite pleasant to hear.

Last week of school for us, here we go!
I love hummingbirds. I watched a wonderful documentary about them. What made it so interesting was the camera they used built specifically to photograph them. It had amazing shots. They went all around the world and there are some amazing species. I liked the one that has a split tail that is about 8-10 inches long.
ReplyDeleteThey are fun little creatures. Hummingbirds seem so happy and busy all the time. I will have to track down that documentary!
