Meet Gordy Jr.

Gordy Jr. in his new digs

We have never had a pet until Christmas this year.  Zaynzley's nursery leader gave each kid a mason jar with a goldfish and a tag that read, "We fish you a Merry Christmas."  Archy named him Gordy Jr. it wasn't until few days later that Quinton clarified that Archy actually named him Goldy Jr.  Apparently, Archy names every pet Goldy like in minecraft or imaginary play.  Archy once meet a Germaine neighbor's cute chihuahua puppy named Goldy who looked just like a 1950's fawn, sadly she died.  Archy likes to keep her in remembrance by naming all pets he can Goldy.

It was to late to change our fish's name as Gordy just seemed a Gordy not a Goldy.  Everyone seemed to enjoy having a pet and demonstrated it by feeding him. How else to do you interact with a fish besides feeding him.  Although we are supposed to feed him once a day it is usually more than that.  One guy comes along and feeds him than a few hours later another guy comes along a feeds him and then a while later a third guy asks the group while holding a pinch of fish food, "Has anyone feed Gordy Jr. today?"  A couple of people will usually affirm they have.  The third guy throws in his pinch of food anyway.  Let's just say all this loving attention has possible more than double the size of Gordy Jr.

I kinda kept expecting Gordy Jr. to die.  He didn't so I finally upgraded his digs from a mason jar to this fish bowl.  He seems to enjoys having a much larger place to swim.  Now I think he needs a plant or little fish cave or maybe a friend.  This is a slippery slope before you know it we will a have a whole aquarium of fat fish.  There is a reason we have never had a pet I have enough to do without caring for a pet and you know it's the momma who primarily takes care of the pets.  I am the only one who weekly changes Gordy Jr.'s water.  Although, I am growing fond of the little guy maybe I will just give him a small pinch of food.
