Archer's State of Bliss

Faces of Archer

Archer has always been the most limber, flexible kid I know. You could take him and twist him in a ball and carry him around easy as you please.  As far as schedule and routine good though he is not flexible at all.  If there is a routine and expectation you had better stick to it or you will never hear the end of it.  He will literally go and on talking without break or pause until he gets what he wants.  He is clever though.  He doesn't raise his voice or throw a fit instead he will say in a calm pleasant voice about 500 times, "Can I play a game mom?"  To forestall that endless inquiry we have established a routine, an excellent compromise where we both get exactly what we want.

After school he immediately sits at the table and we do his homework together.  Then he does his daily chore which is clean the hallway. It is always the same chore since he is the littlest man he gets the littlest room-the hallway.  I love to hear/see his reaction on the state of the hallway.  He walks in from school towards the dining room table to deposit his backpack checking as he does how clean or dirty it is.  You often will hear a shriek of dismay and then muttering, "Why does everybody make my hallway a mess?"  He usually will continue muttering while he pitches things back into the rooms they belong.  He is a fast worker when he is motivated!  Then he has to have a snack or he turns into a monster since he eats lunch at 10:30 a.m.  Once he has completed those three things then he can play a video game for a half hour.

It is his bliss to play a video game, right now it is always Minecraft.
If only bliss was always so easily obtained.
