At school it was all the rage to get cards and trade them. There were basically two camps: Pokemon and Football. A kid would take his cards to school and then trade them with other kids. My boys were in the football card camp. Football cards have come a long way since I was a kid. I had a few football cards back in the day so I can tell you that they are not near as fancy as they are today. Now they have glitter and foil and they even have a few rarer card that have pieces of the actual football uniform on the card. I have even heard that you can get baseball cards with dirt from the stadiums in it.
Everyone was having a good time at recesses and on the bus discussing and trading the cards. Of course older and wiser kids got to take advantage of the younger clueless ones. Before long things got out of hand and one to many angry parents complained about their child being swindled out of a good card. All cards were banned at school. What to do with your collection of football cards now? Trade with a brother of course. Declan and McCoy now trade exclusively with each other. McCoy likes to look at his cards and sort them various ways. Declan really wanted me to take pictures of them and document their football trading.
Declan and McCoy peruse the cards looking for trades
McCoy offers a trade
Declan accepts
At least if a guy gets swindled the card stays in the family!
