Our Christmas Day!

Christmas morning found Pa in the boys room waiting for the green light to come out and see what Santa had brought.  The four boys bunked together trying to stay awake and catch Santa at his work.  Each bedroom has a small Christmas tree, nativity, and village.  Such anticipation they could hardly stand the wait.

They line up youngest to oldest and get to walk into the room that has the stocking and Santa presents.

Archy only wanted three things for Christmas: bow and arrow, call of duty balaclava and rootbeer lip balm.  When he found two lip balms in his stockings he was so excited.

Hurrah for lip balm!

McCoy by window celebrates finding a candy in his stocking

Santa may not have realized that the lip balms were colored and so when Archer applies it the whole bottom half of his face is covered in a brownish smear.  Silly Santa!

After looking at stockings we moved to the living room to open presents.  We open presents one at a time youngest to oldest and everyone oohs and ahhs accordingly.

Quinton was the official present hander outer

The Quintons check out the new family present of a pedal car while McCoy looks through his football cards.

Zany is quite happy with her bike helmet and
a bag of stuckers Quinton gave her for Christmas

We paused opening presents so everyone could go outside to ride there new bikes.  A few days before Christmas we went to Duncan to a town party that had raffles to win bikes.  McCoy and Archer both won new bikes which was great since they both really needed new bikes.  Quinton got a new bike for Christmas.

After pedaling around and playing some basketball with new basketballs the boys wanted to go on a proper bike ride.  We decided to let them bike the three miles to Grandma Parkes house.  Ashlee and I accompanied them on foot. Even Archer was able to bike the whole three miles.  We arrived at Grandmas just at lunch which was roast beef, potatoes, carrots, fruit salad and rolls.  Quinton decided to bike home but the rest the boys got a ride home.  In the later afternoon, we resumed present opening.  We have learned that it is more fun to spread the present opening out and let the kids open the toys and play with them a bit before opening more presents.  This slower approach seems to work well for us.  After the second round of present opening, Ashlee and Nona fixed an early dinner of a Christmas Tea.  The Christmas Tea included all kind of appetizers, brie, cheese and crackers, and sandwich fixings.  Then we all cozied up in the family room to watch a show together and before we knew another delightful Christmas was over!

Happy New Year's Day!

  1. Sounds like you had a wonderful Christmas that was enjoyed to the limit. Over at Ken's house, they did it very similarly. Youngest to oldest, taking time to open and enjoy each gift. The bike gifts were great and I loved the look of Archer when he got not just one, but TWO lip balms. Too cute/
