I love snow. It is extremely rare here in the desert though. Our winters are sunny and warm, the days are usually in the 60's and the nights in the 30's to 40's. Quite a few snowbirds (people who leave their homes to spend the winter here then go back home for the rest of the year) come here to escape the endless snow they have back home. I am always wanting it to snow here and I always get my hopes up every winter that several forces will combine perfectly to give us a dusting of white. It usually doesn't snow at all. I am told that it snows every 30 years here and we did get a lovely foot of snow in 2007 (finger crossed for 2037).
If you want snow around here you have to drive up the 10,000 foot mountain to get some enduring car sickness, not a fun drive. I encouraged the kids to pray for snow if they wanted snow this year and so since October we have been praying for some snow off and on as we remember. The snow that falls on Mount Graham provides some of our water source in the summer and we have been experiencing drought conditions the last ten years so the more snow on the mountain the better!
Our prayers were answered and we were all very excited to get the merest dusting of snow maybe an inch to just 1/2 inch of snow. It snowed in the early hours of the morning so the kids got up to go play in it knowing if they didn't it would melt. They ran out in their pajamas and did all the usual snow like things: snowballs, snow angels, and snow men.
Snow ball fight
It wouldn't be a snowball fight without a few tears and accusations of people purposely being hit in the face with a snowball.

We were so happy to get snow no matter how little and there is always 2037 to hope for.
Now that is an unique snowman.
