Treasure Box Rewards

My sister and I began collecting toys (Shee-ra, Care Bears, My Little Pony, Glow Worms=children of the 80's) when we were kids and dearly love toys to this day. I can clearly remember many toy stores from my childhood. I even remember the toy store from when we lived Germany and I was about three years old. It was a magical place with toys hanging from the ceiling. I would often get Black Forest gummy bears there I still like gummy bears to this day but in recent years cinnamon bears have grown to be my preference.

So it wasn't really a hardship for Ashlee and I to spend a good thirty minutes sifting through bins of random toys at the thrift store to find the good ones. As part of the summer reading program I made for my kids, I decided to add the treasure box reward and I needed toys to put in the treasure box. They can turn in a token and get to pick two items from the treasure box.  There were of course lots of random McDonalds happy meal toys and I am not a fan of McDonalds toys (except for two that I collect Madame Alexander dolls and smurfs). We did a thorough search looking for toys that we already have bins for, we found a good amount, and I only had to pay two dollars for all of them!

Declan, McCoy, Archy opted to cash in tokens to pick items from the treasure box.  They were pretty excited by what they found there. Thanks Ashlee for helping find the good toys!

Archy picked a imaginext Batman and Buzz Lightyear (treasure box in background)

McCoy picked a Papa Smurf and Hunico (wrestler)

Declan's pics: The Rat King (from Teenage Mutant Turtles) and WWE Costume for big wrestlers

I guess I will have to keep my eye out for more treasure box fodder.
